Mother Nature is brutal. It is not humanity but Nature that decided that males are expendable. Just look how many sperm are sent to fertilize one egg. Those that don’t make the grade? Left to the dustbins of history.
This kind of brutal approach to survival and evolution is seen throughout all life. While the ‘right’ action or answer in life gets us an increase in dopamine and other feel-good neuromodulators, the ‘wrong’ action gets us fear, frustration, and shame, among others.
But there’s a major mistake that most people make when deciphering these feelings:
You think that a bad feeling is bad.
It’s not.
Instead, most bad feelings are signals from the system of you that something is off. That you’re doing something in a way that would be better done differently.
